No, I guess VT can admit to being beaten by a very good team vs Bama. One thing you overlook in your stats is that VT had over 250 return yards on Bama, which helped keep VT in the game and they actually led Bama until the 4th and Bama didn't put the game away until 6 minutes left at that point they only held a 27-24 lead.
UT was completely man handled by VT especially in the 2nd half and they NEVER lead the entire game. Something Bama nor UF could do to the Vols. When you hold a team to 5 net yards rushing you have dominated their O line IMO. And if Stephan Virgil hadn't been so boneheaded lazy and made the grades I don't know if UT would have scored the 2 td's they did, both of which were aided by big pass plays to the side he should have been playing. Heck VT's back up running backs ran over the Vol D for a quarter and a half, what if RW had played the entire game? :eek: One thing though, I do think Kiffin will be able to bring the Vols back near the top. He is an excellent recruiter. I expect the Gators to drop off now and UT should be able to take the East back, but you still have Bama and LSU sitting over in the West.

If you are going to say UT got SH!t stomped, which they did by VT, then you have to say the same for the VT/Bama game. Theres not much of a difference between those two games. Both were close for 3 quarters and then were manhandled in the 4th.

The East will be a mess next year. Who knows what will happen in Florida. UT loses quite a bit. Its hard to tell what you will get from UGA, USC or UK. Every one of them may end up even in the conference. Bama will still be the team to beat next year IMO. LSU really won't worry me too much as long as Les Miles is there. They will have talent to win, but lose games they shouldnt.

Next season may not be the year for UT but I think they can get back in 2-3 seasons maybe. It takes some time and I do hope UT doesn't do like many schools and only give Kiffin a couple years before they can him.

With the recruits Bama has rolling in to complement what they already have I wouldn't be surprised to see them playing for the MNC again next season. Heck, they may 3-peat!

Yep. I dont think UT will run Lane out of town in short time unless something really odd goes down. They will build a winner.

Bamas on a roll no doubt. And, as a UT fan, I hate it.

The SEC is for sure Bama's to lose next year. The East could be won by anyone except UK and Vandy. UT's schedule is a biotch next year. They get Fla and Ala in Knoxville, but have to travel to USCjr, UGA, and LSU. OOC schedule features Oregon (who returns 18 starters) in K-town next year. Mark this one down though, after Ohio St. beat Oregon yesterday, they will be ranked 1 or 2 pre-season next year. I know I'm rambling on here, but did anybody hear Wussberger drooling and going gaga over Ohio St.?

VT led going into the 4th quarter of the Bama game...how, in any sense of the term, is that a "sh*t stomping"...VT certainly had more than 5 yards rushing, and a lot of the reason we didn't have a lot of total yards was the field position, like someone stated earlier we had 250 yards returning, so there's not a lot of yards to gain when you're starting from Bama's 35

don't be ridiculous, the outcome of the VT-Bama game was still in question with about 6 or 7 min to go in the 4th...it was over in the 3rd quarter of the VT-UT game

The UT game was not over in the 3rd. It was over after Moore dropped the TD and VT went down and cashed in on the next possession. Bama dominated VT in that game. They didn't put it out of reach on the scoreboard till late, but they physcially whipped VT on both sides of the ball, just as VT did UT the other night.

So with your reasoning since UT outgained Bama 341-256 UT should be awarded the win since stats are so indicative of the winner. The simple fact is VT ran roughshod over UT in the 2nd half. VT also held a 223-151 halftime advantage so using your logic it wasn't really close in the 1st half.

No, thats only using VTs reasoning after the Bama game. I said Bama dominated VT, and VT dominated UT.

VT held a one point lead going into the 4th. Bama added ten points before VT scored again. the game was over with 12 minutes to go with Ingram threw a TD pass, and went up 24-17, not 6 minutes left

VT, in the second half, could not move the ball at all.

499-199 total yards.
